Designing through exploration of a material is a fast way to understand the qualities of a material and what opportunities a material holds in terms of designing a product. After various experiments with bending and folding 3mm / 10mm mild steel this letter hook emerged. After various experiments with bending and folding 3mm / 10mm mild steel this letter hook emerged. By experimenting with bending, twisting and folding I began to unravel the design possibilities the steel suggested. The radius on the bottom bend makes a perfect shape to hold a pencil and the gap between the hook and the back creates a suitable space for holding letters and paper for notes. The flat back also creates a perfect flat surface to screw in to a wall. By experimenting with bending, twisting and folding I began to unravel the design possibilities the steel suggested.
